Autumn-Winter Tea Tasting Experience

As autumn transitions into winter, we host a tea tasting experience centered around autumn-winter teas harvested during this season.
The host is Fumiya Shiratori of Sakurai Japanese Tea Experience. For this special occasion, we welcome Tadashi Sugiyama from “Shibakiri-en” in Shimizu, Shizuoka City. You will witness tea leaves freshly picked from the fields being steamed right before your eyes, then experience the process of making tea and tasting it.
You will also have the opportunity to taste autumn-winter bancha and sencha produced by Mr. Sugiyama.
This one-day-only tea course is presented by two individuals born into tea farming families in Shimizu, Shizuoka City, who continue the tradition of tea cultivation.
We invite you to join us for a moment where you can experience everything from the scent of the tea fields to the atmosphere of the tea factory. We encourage you to apply for this unique opportunity.

・Shibakiri-en: Tadashi Sugiyama
After graduating high school in 2018, he learned the fundamentals of tea cultivation and processing from Jiro Katahira of Houkouen. He started his own business in 2019.
He cultivates native white-leaf tea varieties selected by his family on tea fields passed down for generations in Shimizu, Shizuoka City. He produces naturally processed, hand-picked teas, primarily light-steamed sencha.
